29 Palms

Tomorrow it tumbles
              this body we share.
Today it rests              in your palms
                                   in your t-shirt
                                          in your ruptured moments.
Your scalpel-hand, skilled at excision, remains unmoved.
This shared body
This histological genius
This is              living       for
You       make me              a kitchen-drawer-klepto
       a masochist
              a woman unloved,
carved this body   a locket       let its breaking
              make it precious.
